Pupsters

This dog is made in the round (you won't join rounds with a slip stitch). The legs, ears, nose, tail, and spots are all sewn onto the body with a yarn needle. When finished, he sits around 9" tall when sitting up.

Items you'll need:
F hook, or size of your choice
Polyfiber fill
Yarn needle
Two colors (or you could just use one, whichever) of yarn
pair of 15mm eyes

Terms used (U.S. terms):
sc - single crochet
sl st - slip stitch
hdc - half double crochet
dc - double crochet
2sc - increase stitch
2sctog - decrease stitch (I used the "invisible decrease" on this doll, you can find it on Youtube here or in a phototutorial here.
3sctog - decrease just decrease it over 3 stitches
MR - magic ring (see Youtube for this method if you do not know) All MR have sc worked into them (IE: If it says MR 8, do a magic ring, and sc 8 into the ring)
rep - repeat around
blo - back loop only (this is the loop that is farthest from you, as you hold your work while working
ch - chain

Now, let's move onward!

Main body:
Round 1: MR 7
Round 2: 2sc in each - 14
Round 3: sc, 2sc in next, rep - 21
Round 4: sc in 2, 2sc in next, rep - 28
Round 5: sc in 3, 2sc in next, rep - 35
Round 6: sc in 4, 2sc in next, rep - 42
Rounds 7-17 (11 rounds): sc around - 42
Round 18: sc in 4, 2sctog - 35
Rounds 19-20 (2 rounds): sc around - 35
Round 21: sc in 3, 2sctog - 28
Round 22: sc around - 28
Round 23: sc in 3, 2sc in next, rep - 35
Round 24: sc in 4, 2sc in next, rep - 42
Round 25: sc in 5, 2sc in next, rep - 49
Rounds 26-37 (12 rounds): sc around - 49
Note: Don't forget to attach your eyes, if you are using ones with safety backings and not buttons or crocheted eyeballs. If you want an eye patch like I did, see below; I put the eye through the patch and attached the backing to the inside of the doll's head. I attached my eyes around row 12 of the head.
Round 38: sc in 6, 2sc in next, rep - 56
Rounds 39-43 (5 rounds): sc around - 56
Round 44: in blo, sc around - 56
Round 45: sc in 2, 2sctog, rep - 42
Round 46: 2sctog around - 21
Round 47: 2sctog - 10
Round 48: 2sc 4 times, 3sctog to close, tie off.

Eye patch:
Round 1: MR 8
Round 2: 2sc in each - 16
Round 3: sc in 2, 2sc in next, rep around, you'll end with 1sc that is ok - 21

Hind legs (make 2):
Round 1: MR 8
Round 2: 2sc in each - 16
Round 3: sc, 2sc in next, rep - 24
Round 4: sc in 2, 2sc in next - 32
Rounds 5-9 (5 rounds): sc around - 32
Round 10: sc in 2, 2sctog - 24
Round 11: sc, 2sctog - 16
Rounds 12-15 (14 rounds): sc around - 16 (start stuffing if you haven't been doing so)
Round 16: 2sctog around - 8
After stuffing a bit more, pinch the top together and sc across it to stitch it closed. Leave a tail to sew it onto body later.

Forelegs:
Round 1: MR 6
Round 2: 2sc in each - 12
Round 3: sc, 2sc in next, rep - 18
Round 4: sc in 2, 2sc in next, rep - 24
Rounds 5-9 (5 rounds): sc around - 24
Round 10: sc in 2, 2sctog - 18
Round 11: sc, 2sctog - 12
Rounds 12-27 (16 rounds): sc around - 12 (I switched to the brown on the 11th round of this. Start stuffing as you go along.)
Round 28: 2sctog around - 6
After stuffing a bit more, pinch the top together and sc across it to stitch it closed. Leave a tail to sew it onto body later.

Now, for the feet, I did just a few stitches to give him some "toes". It doesn't look that great but it does kinda give them some shape rather than just a rounded look. This is just by taking a yarn needle, inserting it near the bottom of the "foot", going up 4 rows or so, and pulling it back down to the stitch you began in, pulling the yarn firm. I looped it through 3 times or something, and then moved over 4 rows (so that there are 3 rows in between) and did it again, and then moved over one more time, for a total of 3 times. I didn't break my yarn, just snuck it over along the inside of the foot. Here's a few pictures, just in case they help, I don't know.

Here I insert the needle from the bottom, and go up a few rows. I think this picture shows 3 rows. 4 would be good, but that might depend on your gauge. As you pinch it/pull the yarn tight, it won't seem like that far, so try to exaggerate it a little at first--you'll see.

Pulling the yarn tighter, this is what it looks like after.

Sneaking over a few rows to start another "toe".

Note: this method may or may not give you a look you desire, so this step can be skipped if you so wish.

Ears (make two):
Round 1: ch5, sc in 3, 3sc in 4th, now working up the other side, because we are going to make a kind of ovular shape, sc 2, 2sc in last - 10
Round 2: Continue working around in the ovular shape for the rest of the ear, sc in 4, 2sc in next, sc in 4, 2sc in last - 12
Round 3: 2sc in each - 24
Round 4-9 (5 rounds) - sc around - 24
Round 10: sc in 4, 2sctog, rep around - 20
Rounds 11-12 (2 rounds): sc in each - 20
Round 13: sc in 3, 2sctog, rep - 16
Round 14-17 (4 rounds): sc around - 16
Round 18: sc in 2, 2sctog, rep - 12
Round 19: sc, 2sctog - 8
Rounds 20-22 (3 rounds): sc in each - 8
Pinch the top together and sc across it to stitch it closed. Leave a tail to sew it onto head later. I attached these around row 6 of the head.

Tail:
Round 1: MR 4
Round 2: sc, 2sc in next, rep - 6
Round 3: sc in each - 6
Round 4: sc in 2, 2sc in 2, sc in 2 - 8
Round 5: sc in 3, 2sc in 2, sc in 3 - 10
Round 6: sc around - 10
Switch to brown.
Rounds 7-13 (7 rounds): sc in each - 10
Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing it on later.

Nose:
Note: I didn't, for some reason, write down what I did. This is what I'm pretty sure I did:
Round 1: ch 6, sc in 2nd chain from the hook and the next 3 stitches, 2sc in the last stitch, working up other side to make an ovular shape sc in 3, sc in last - 10
Round 2: sc around - 10
Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing. I put the top of the nose 2 rows below where I stuck the eyes in.
Then, embroider the mouth underneath.

Butt spot:
Note: Be sure not to make your sl st too tight, it can be hard to get your hook through on the next round. Make sure to take a deep breath and relax, no need to punish the yarn! :)
Round 1: MR 4
Round 2: 2sc in each - 8
Round 3: 2sc in each - 16
Round 4: sc, 2sc in next, rep around - 24
Round 5: sl st in 3 stitches, (sc, hdc) in next stitch, (hdc, dc) in next stitch, (dc, hdc) in next, (hdc, sc) in next, sc in next, sl st in next 3, sc in 12 - 28
Round 6: sc around - 28
If there is a pucker in this, it is ok, you can fix it by sewing it down with a few stitches.
I attached the spot to the butt first, then put the tail on it, kind of off-centered (just make sure your tail lines up with the center of his back.)

My phone's camera doesn't show it real well, but the spot really is oblong shaped and not a smooth circle. My phone's camera just doesn't like rounded edges so it tends to not depict them very well. Anyways, you can see I had a bit of a pucker, but it was minimal and easy to hide.

Ta da! After putting everything together and hiding tails, you should have something that looks like this!:
